Email invite
I understand that every student has an email with the university because uni may send some event informations or emergency news to students. Therefore, I think it may also be great to introduce the event to student through a platform that they can easy to see.
For example, in my university, they also send us an email invite whatever the event is. Hence, I will also make something like it to let or invite more students.
